FAKE SNOW with Polyacrlylate Sodium

We experimented with Polyacrylate Sodium. We got it from the diapers the students brought to school.

Polyacrylate Sodium is a super absorbent man-made polymer that has the ability to absorb as much as  300 times its mass in water.  It's for this reason that is used in diapers to keep babies dry.

When we added water to the Polyacrylate Sodium we got, suddenly its appearance changed and it was similar to snow, although it wasn't cold!

So, if you need fake snow for your manger this year, remember: polyacrylate sodium from diapers + water!
